6M OIL SPILL RESPONSE

UNMANNED SURFACE VESSEL

— PROJECT NAME

6M OIL SPILL RESPONSE USV

— ROLE

Initial Design

3D Design

3D Modelling

— DATE

2023

The client brief was for an unmanned vessel that can work in tandem to pull an oil spill recovery barge. With the vessel being autonomous, the user can input a path through the spill, and it will follow. Once the path is complete, it will return to wherever the designated ‘home base’ is.

The 6 meter length was chosen as it large enough to hold an engine powerful enough to tow the barge, whilst still being small enough to be manoeuvrable at low speeds. The drivetrain required would be a low speed, high torque engine to best allow the vessel to complete it’s duties.

ELEGANCE >< FUNCTION

ANTENNAE

The antennae were curated to include all

necessary utilities and capabilities required of this vessel.

These include a radar, an echosounder, and a magnetic compass, along with all of the necessary instruments

for autonomous navigation and operation.
